ah fuck, hit the enter key. Anyway. I think that we should be able to preview our logins before we actually log in with them. This means that instead of it being like it is with the % keys just labeled as % keys. It'll randomize someone for your viewing help and comfort.
this could make it easier to tell if the login works good enough to use, before you actually try it out.
suggestions?

Wouldn't that defeat the point of using the randomizer in the first place? I mean if you could keep changing it until it came up with something that you wanted to see, why bother using it at all. I mean surely that's the whole fun in the thing, the fact that you have no idea what it's going to chuck out.

That's what I think anyway, keep things as they currently are.

that's not what i meant dan. I mean, that sometimes your login doesn't show up how it would when you use it. not to fuck with the randomizer

Ah I get what you're saying. So you mean that you should be able to preview it in your profile when you are actually creating it so that you can see exactly what it will display on log in?

Sorry for the confusion.

I don't think so. I mean, you can use commas and apostrophies and whatnat with the randomizer, it's really not that hard to figure out how it's gonna look/sound

cala, meaning that you'd be able to see it exactly. for example, when I look at mine, it takes about 6 or 7 lines, where as in the login on the page, it's 3

the idea is good.

save time trying to change it

Plus, think about the fact that sometimes part of your message is clipped off.

My login message is cut off after 2 lines on the creation page.

can we have another look at this suggestion please?

i think it's worth looking in to. i mean, the only way you can see the whole message now is if you log out, then back in, and that gets anoying for some people. specially if you log out, see a mistake, then back in, see another one, and keep having to do that until it sounds right, or you've fixed what's wrong. if we had it on our profiles or could preview it before it going in to the system, it'd be a lot easier.

I can see the point to this, as much as it pains me to admit Garret is right about something. I've seen a lot of messed up log in and log out messages simply because the person probably didn't have a chance to preview them before using them.

Post 14 by Dusty (This site is so "educational") on Saturday, 06-Sep-2008 20:50:47

Perhaps, but the solution is more straightforward. Write, edit and preview your login/logout messages in Word or Wordpad (inserting your own name for assistance) then cut and paste it into your profile when you think it's right. It might also help to send your proposed message to someone else to preview before using it.
The real problem is that there is such a lot of piss-poor grammar and spelling in logins that no amount of previewing or editing will matter if people can't tell what's wrong with it. Essentially, I don't think this is a necessary feature.

but it's an easy feature, which should make it worthwhile

Post 16 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 07-Sep-2008 4:10:46

plus, some of us can't cut and paste, cause the feature won't for one reason or another work.
